Louise Katzman ambitiously compiled “Photography in California 1945-1980” is a great example of the treasures that drive our efforts here. A record of her first solo project as Assistant Curator of Photography at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art the book contains works from the 50 artist she chose for exhibition.
The photographers included cover a wide range of styles that developed concurrent with technology in the post war era right up to the front edge of the digital age. Some of the names loom large in the art world while others are are lesser know, but all embody the exuberance of discovery associated with the time period.
